Shaun Wright-Phillips has been unveiled by Manchester City after signing a four-year contract with the club for an undisclosed fee.
The England winger left City for Chelsea in a £21 million deal three years ago but was frustrated by a lack of regular starts.
"I want to get back to playing football with City and doing the best I can," the 26-year-old said. "I'm glad to be given the opportunity to help the club move forward."
Wright-Phillips made just 43 starts for the Stamford Bridge club but repeatedly denied he was unhappy and vowed to fight for his place.
He insists the decision to join Chelsea was a good one but now he is looking forward to re-establishing himself with City.
He said: "I can't say I ever felt I was truly not wanted when I was at the club [Chelsea]. It is a fantastic club, fantastic fans."
He added: "I can say I gave 110 per cent for them like I always would but I am glad now to leave what was a great experience and try and get to work at home."
Manager Mark Hughes believes Wright-Phillips is a better player for his time at Chelsea and feels he will now go on to greater success with City.
Wright-Phillips joined City after being released by Nottingham Forest at the age of 15 and emerged as one of the country's most exciting talents during his seven years there.
