Benitez: 'Spurs fans love Robbie Keane'
Updated on 31 October 2008
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez expects ex-Spurs striker Robbie Keane to be given a warm reception when he returns to White Hart Lane tomorrow.
The Irish international made a £19m switch to Anfield in the summer after six years at Tottenham.
Benitez said: "He [Keane] wants to play in every game, and obviously he will want to see the fans and say hello again.
"He was a key player for them [Spurs] for years - a fantastic professional who always gave 100 per cent. I think the fans will appreciate that.
"When you have been at a club and you are happy, normally you just want to go back and show them that you are still a good player.
"Keane is available and it will be my decision over whether to pick him."
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League table after eight wins from their first ten games, and Benitez urged his players to keep the run going.
He said: "I think we are in a good position but there is still a long way to go. We are happy with what we are doing but we have to concentrate on the long-term.
"There's plenty of room for improvement and I'm confident we can do that. Accuracy in front of goal and firmness in defence are two of those areas.
"But it is better to be top of the table than having to catch up."
The Liverpool manager said Fernando Torres was still struggling with injury, and despite his team's good run, they had missed the Spanish striker.
He added: "He is a key player for us. He can change games and score goals. - you always miss a player like that. But I am pleased with the performance of the other players."
