Robin van Persie rescued Arsenal's title hopes with a 2-1 victory over London rivals Chelsea.

An own goal from Johan Djourou gave Chelsea a 1-0 half-time lead at Stamford Bridge.

But Van Persie turned the match around with two goals in as many minutes after the restart to help Arsenal reclaim a place in the top four of the Premier League.

The Dutchman looked offside when he levelled before firing in a superb second to pull the Gunners back to within seven points of league leaders Chelsea.

Chelsea pressed for an equaliser, but the Gunners held firm through four minutes of stoppage time to record a memorable win - as the boos rang out around Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea remain top on goal difference from Liverpool but the Merseysiders will replace them if they get at least a point from their home clash with West Ham on Monday night.
