What everyone expected is now official. Steve McClaren has paid for England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008 with his job.
The Football Association said the board's decision was unanimous, but the appointment now looks like a very expensive mistake.
McClaren is expected to walk away with more than £2m in compensation and England's star players will be spending their summer on the beach.
Still, it's good news for the nation's football widows.
