St George is the patron saint of Ethiopia, Greece, Palestine, Portugal, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia - and England.

St George's day used to be barely recognised in England. But now it is gathering momentum as an opportunity to reflect on a growing English national awareness.

More4 News sought an outsider's view on what Englishness means - from people who have campaigned, or even fought, against Britain but who have made their homes in England.
