'Wrong place at the wrong time'

Updated on 21 April 2008

By Andy Davies

A German-born former Guantanamo detainee says he was wrongly identified as a Taliban accomplice.

He was, he says, in the wrong place at the wrong time, pulled off a bus in Pakistan and wrongly identified as a Taliban accomplice - despite evidence that he had no known links to terrorist groups.

Murat Kurnaz, a German-born Turkish citizen, was taken to the US detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, where he was held for almost five years and where he claims he was tortured.

Now back in Germany, Kurnaz has written a book detailing the daily humiliations of life inside Camp Delta.
