US captain still held hostage
Updated on 09 April 2009
The FBI is called in to help free an American captain who is being held by Somali pirates on a lifeboat in the Indian ocean.
A US warship is in the area and the Pentagon said it was seeking a peaceful solution but would not rule out any option in securing Captain Richard Philips's release.
Gunmen briefly seized the Maersk Alabama cargo ship, which was carrying emergency food aid, on Wednesday.
Its 20-strong crew managed to regain control, but the captain was taken hostage.
