MPs from all parties express fury following the arrest of the Conservative's Immigration spokesman.
Tory leader David Cameron has described the arrest of one of his frontbenchers as "heavy handed".
The prime minister's spokesman said Gordon Brown had not known in advance that the MP was going to be arrested.
Damian Green was questioned by counter-terrorism officers for nine hours and his home and office were searched as part of an inquiry into a series of leaks from the home office.
Mr Green has denied doing anything wrong, saying he was astonished by what had happened.
