In pictures: a timeline of Ian Tomlinson's last moments before he died at the G20 protests.

Ian Tomlinson is seen walking away from police with his hands in his pockets in this footage obtained by The Guardian.

An officer appears to hit the 47-year-old forcefully with a baton.

The officer then seems to push Mr Tomlinson from behind.

Mr Tomlinson falls hard to the ground, where two protesters move to help him up. The police do not help him.

The officer adjusts his balaclava, hiding his face.

Mr Tomlinson then walks away from the scene, seemingly unhurt. The officer (seen in the background with a helmet on) moves to talk to a more senior police officer.

Minutes later Mr Tomlinson collapses just yards away. He is surrounded by police who attempt to resuscitate him as he is not moving. He later died.
