Shannon's mother remanded in custody

The mother of Shannon Matthews has been remanded in custody accused of repeatedly concealing the whereabouts of her daughter.
Karen Matthews faced a hostile reception from some of the people gathered on the streets of Dewsbury as she was brought to court to face the charges in relation to her daughter's disappearance.
Meanwhile, on the estate where she lived police distributed leaflets warning the public not to take the law into their own hands.
