The mother of Shannon Matthews bursts into tears in court as she denies involvement in her daughter's disappearance.

Giving evidence for the first time, Karen Matthews said she had not planned the kidnap of her daughter. And she denied threatening to have Michael Donovan killed if he did not help her.

Both of them are charged with kidnap and false imprisonment. They deny the charges.
