Plane plot accused face retrial as government launches battle of ideas

How a government campaign is trying to reach out to young Muslim men with plays, cartoons and 'I Love Islam' t-shirts.

The decision comes after a jury failed to reach verdicts on the charge on Monday.

Three of the accused were convicted of conspiracy to murder.

But combating violent extremism isn't just about tight security, according to the government. It's also about the battle of ideas.

It's spending money on a range of activities, from staging plays to printing "I Love" Islam t-shirts, all aimed at dissuading young men from becoming extremists.

In this exclusive report Channel 4 News assesses the government's campaign.
