Plan for pledge of allegiance

A pledge of allegiance to the Queen could be coming to a classroom near you, as Andy Davies reports.

It's one suggestion from a government review of citizenship by the former lord chancellor Lord goldsmith. Its aim, he says, is to tackle a "diminution of national pride".

Other suggestions include an overhaul of treason laws, a new national holiday, and lower university fees for students who do charity work.

But with the Scottish nationalists already voicing concerns, what would happen to dissenters who do not want to swear an oath to the monarch?
