A man is arrested after missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews is found alive in a house in West Yorkshire, 24 days after she went missing.

Police said specialist search teams discovered the child, hidden in the base of a divan bed in a house in the Batley Carr area of Dewsbury, just after noon.

A 39-year old man was arrested on suspicion of abduction at the address. He is now being held in custody.

Officers smashed their way into a flat in Lidgate Gardens, just a mile from her family home in Moorside Road.
