Neither the former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic nor the more ludicrous figure of John Darwin was exactly a master of disguise.
Armed with nothing more than fake beards, they openly wandered about their home towns - and didn't even shy away from cameras.
In this age of mass surveillance, how easy is it simply to vanish?
