Lots of women wouldn't go anywhere without them - and now evidence that a handbag can be useful for what ever life throws at you.

Three heroines in the West Midlands managed to stop a dangerous fugitive in his tracks - and it's thanks to their bravery and their handbags.

Uniform and plain clothes police had been chasing a man unsuccessfully through the centre of Worcester.

Caught on CCTV, our heroines appear - we see the first woman bravely block the man on the pavement, forcing him to run into the road, another woman joins in and hits him with her handbag - and continues to chase him - the third woman steps out and forces him to change direction.

The man ran across the bridge and was finally caught by a van driver.

Police are now appealing to the public to help identify the women so they can be properly thanked for their help.
