Jonathan Rugman has a special report from inside the pirates' lair as it is revealed that the owners of the supertanker hijacked by Somali pirates are "highly likely" to pay a ransom to secure its release.

The owners of the supertanker hijacked by Somali pirates are 'highly likely' to pay a ransom to secure its release, according to the chairman of Lloyds Insurance.

Lord Levene warned there was "no alternative" to paying ransoms if ships crews are to be saved: "you don't want lives to be lost", he said.

The gang holding the crew of the Sirius Star, including two Britons, are demanding £10m for their release.

The Somali journalist Jamal Osman has gained exclusive access to the village of Eyl, widely regarded as the main pirate stronghold.
