Princess Diana was not unlawfully killed in a staged accident, according to the coroner at the inquest into her death. Roz Upton reports.

"There is no evidence that the Duke of Edinburgh ordered Diana's execution, and there is no evidence that the secret intelligence service or any other government agency organised it."

The coroner overseeing Princess Diana's inquest today rejected some of Mohamed al- Fayed's theories about the Paris car crash 10 years ago, saying they were "so demonstrably without foundation" that even his lawyer was no longer pursuing them.

Summing up after six months of evidence, Lord Justice Scott Baker also branded the princess's former butler Paul Burrell a liar.

He said the jury could reach five possible verdicts - but underlined that finding Diana was unlawfully killed in a staged accident was not one of them.
