Parents have a duty to ask their teenagers if they are carrying a knife the Metropolitan Police commissioner warns.
Urging families to help tackle the crisis in youth violence, Sir Ian Blair said a stop and search blitz across London had resulted in 200 extra arrests, with more than a hundred weapons seized.
But hours later a 27-year-old man was stabbed during a robbery in Sidcup, the Kent town where teenager Rob Knox was stabbed to death this weekend.
And there've been a series of other stabbings across the country in the last 24 hours.
