Couple charged over child death

A man and a woman have appeared in court charged with neglect after a seven-year-old girl died in hospital, reportedly from starvation.
West Midlands Police revealed today that Khyra Ishaq was taken from Leyton Road, Handsworth to hospital on Saturday, where she was pronounced dead.
Five other children, in an apparently emaciated condition, were found in the same house as Khyra and were also treated in hospital.
The man and woman who appeared in court are believed to be Khyra's mother and stepfather. John Sparks reports from Birmingham.
