After last night's revelations on Channel 4 News it turns out the plans for hundreds of private hostels are way bigger than anybody cared to admit. Cathy Newman has more.

The private company employed by the government to house offenders let out of jail early or awaiting trial has told Channel 4 News that they have been contracted to provide accommodation for up to 1300 people in around 400 houses across England and Wales.

That is more than twice the number of bail hostels previously made public as a result of this programme's investigation yesterday.

Clearsprings has also confirmed to Channel 4 News that the reason the government awarded the company the contract was because jails are overflowing. Our Political Correspondent Cathy Newman reports.
