Bringing a legal case against the police at home can be daunting enough.
But after being severely beaten up during the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001, one British man, Mark Covell, has spent the time since then trying to bring Italy's most senior police officers to justice.
This week Italy's chief of police was sacked by the prime minister himslef after being caught manipulating defendant's statements.
But this is not the only case of important evidence being tampered with in a case that is proving sensational.
