Bradford's tough new drugs policy
Updated on 11 March 2008
Bradford adopts a scorched earth policy to combat its drugs problem. Simon Israel reports.
It's the scorched earth approach to fighting illegal drugs. In one week 300 offences and 66 arrests in an ambitious operation by Bradford police to rid the city of as many dealers as possible.
With an estimated 5,000 addicts, that is one per cent of the population. Bradford has one of the country's highest incidences of hard drug use.
The aim behind this new strategy is to cut off supplies and give addicts a chance to get help.
Channel 4 News went out in Bradford to see the police in action.
