Nicky Reilly didn't just want to become a martyr, he also planned to blow up as many people as possible in a family restaurant.

That's what the Muslim convert told the police after injuring himself in a botched suicide bombing in a Giraffe restaurant in Exeter.

Reilly, who has autism and a low IQ, suffered burns to his face and arms when his homemade bomb exploded in his hands in a toilet cubicle.

Detectives are still hunting two men who encouraged him online.

Today he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other offences at the Old Bailey.
