Channel 4 News has learnt that three US-registered planes suspected of transporting terrorist detainees to torture camps have gone through UK airspace around 200 times in the last five years.

The American administration admits it transports detainees around the world, but human rights groups claim the practice known as "extraordinary rendition" is used to send prisoners to countries where they can be tortured.

The government here has always denied that UK airspace has been used for torture flights, but opposition MPs are now demanding that they find out more about what these aircraft have been doing.
