Insurance warning for flooded Britain

Improve Britain's flood defences, or we won't cover homes homes at risk, insurers warn.

No improvements to Britain's flood defences - no more insurance for homes in areas at risk

That's the warning from leading insurers, who are urging the government to increase spending on flood prevention. They say this is essential to a country where flood insurance isn't provided by the state.

The insurers also warned that even normal rainfall could lead to further deluges, because parts of the countryside have become completely saturated.
