Your baby is what you eat

Updated on 23 April 2008

What you eat may influence the sex of your baby, according to a new study.

A new study suggests that what women eat when they conceive may influence the sex of their baby, with high-calorie diets increasing the chances of having a boy.

The research, carried out at Exeter University, found that 54 per cent of women with the highest energy intake had boys, compared to 45 per cent with the lowest intake.

Women who gave birth to sons were also likely to have eaten more nutrients, including breakfast cereals.
