Unemployment looms for junior doctors

Some 6,000 junior doctors, whose training was paid for by the public, could be unemployed due to the Government's new training system.

Modernising Medical Careers was designed to revolutionise the way doctors are taught.
They apply on-line for a placement but face an agonising wait to see whether a job exists and whereabouts it might be.
The deadline for applications was extended until today because of online registration problems - and many trainees are simply going abroad for work.
