NHS Trusts admit losing data

By James Blake

Updated on 23 December 2007

More personal data has gone missing, this time from the National Health Service.

Nine NHS trusts have admitted losing patients' information, including a computer disc with the details of 160,000 children.

The Department of Health said it did not know how many patients' data have been lost, as the breaches were being dealt with locally, but hundreds of thousands of people are thought to have been affected.

Channel 4 News has learnt that this comes as GPs face budget cuts for data protection measures.
