Hospital staff face uniform ban

Staff at a city's hospitals have been banned from wearing their uniforms outside of their workplace and home.
Nurses and other clinical staff at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and Derby City Hospital must take their work clothes off before leaving for the day, the hospitals' NHS Trust said.
The rule is part of a new dress code introduced after members of the public complained about seeing the uniforms worn in shops and pubs, said the trust.
Lynn Hyatt, assistant director of nursing at the DRI, told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "The public were starting to complain about seeing our staff outside the hospital still wearing their uniforms.
"We have always had uniform guidelines in place but we hope this dress code will promote a more professional image. So far, it has been welcomed by staff, too.
"There is also a public perception that it will reduce the spread of hospital infections but, in reality, there is no evidence to support this."
