Hope for skin disease sufferers
Updated on 19 April 2009
A treatment is on the cards for sufferers of rare and painful skin disorder, Epidermolysis Bullosa. Jane Deith meets one patient who says the treatment is 'life changing'.
Around 700 people in the UK suffer from Epidermolysis Bullosa, which came to wider attention through a recent Channel 4 documentary.
The disease causes skin to become blistered and raw but now a new cell therapy which could offer relief is being trialled and early results are astonishing.
Sufferer Melissa Smith, who is one of those taking part in the trial, told Channel 4 News that the treatment had changed her life.
