Healthy shoppers embrace smoothies

The UK market for smoothie drinks tripled last year, new figures show.
Sales soared to £64 million to make smoothies the fastest growing sector of the juice market, according to market analysts TNS Worldpanel.
Innocent Drinks is the leading brand in the sector.
It is now in third place behind Tropicana and Ocean Spray in the ranking of top juice brands, according to research carried out for The Grocer.
Smoothies are most popular with young people aged 15 to 19 and 25 to 34, according to a report in the trade magazine.
They buy the fruit drinks because of their health-boosting properties.
New smoothie firms and the launch of bigger one-litre cartons have also boosted overall sales.
"The market for smoothies tripled in size last year as Brits sought out healthy on-the-go options and hangover cures," the report says.
Smoothies are made from pure, crushed fruit. Some blends have added ginseng, echinacea and other natural ingredients. Dairy smoothies have added yoghurt or milk.
The TNS Worldpanel data is based on the take-home shopping habits of 20,000 British consumers.
