Drive to fight obesity launches
Updated on 02 January 2009
Can the government's anti-obesity campaign get us into shape, when it is sponsored by fast food companies?
Saying it aimed to kick start a "lifestyle revolution", the government today launched a three-year bid to cut obesity levels in England.
But health groups have expressed concern that the campaign is being partially funded by food companies whose products contain high amounts of fat and sugar.
The Change 4 Life campaign is backed by new television adverts urging people to adopt a more healthy lifestyle and follows warnings that 90 per cent of all adults will be obese or overweight by 2050.
Samira Ahmed is joined by Richard Watts from the Children's Food Campaign, an organisation that promotes healthy food in schools and lobbies against junk food marketing.
