Scientists have made a breakthrough in their research into the genetic mechanisms which cause autism.
They claim it matches the discovery that revolutionised the understanding and treatment of cancer 30 years ago.
For the first time, scientists claim three major studies have helped pinpoint genetic mechanisms underlying autistic disorders, including ones which are relatively common.
