Finnish police had questioned gunman responsible for killing 10 people

Updated on 23 September 2008

By Lindsay Taylor

Police had only yesterday spoken to the gunman who killed 10 people at a Finnish school. Lindsay Taylor reports.

Matti Juhani Saari, 22, had posted threatening videos on the internet, showing him firing a gun and calling for war.

Earlier today Saari went on the rampage in the Finnish vocational school in Kauhajoki, killing 10 people before fatally wounding himself.

Finland's prime minister called it a "tragic day", reviving memories of another fatal school shooting just months ago.
