Starbucks leaves the tap running

Updated on 06 October 2008

By Tom Clarke

Starbucks is accused of wasting 23 million litres of water daily by instructing branches to leave a cold tap constantly running. Tom Clarke reports.

The company insisted the tap had to be left running in order to keep spoons and other utensils adequately clean.

But environmental groups are outraged, and hygiene experts have dismissed the idea.
