Snow and ice bring chaos to England and Wales

A fifth day of deep snow closes roads, railways, airports and schools and there is a dramatic rescue after hundreds are trapped in snowdrifts.
Severe weather warnings are in force for many parts of the country. South Wales and the West Country were worst hit overnight - the emergency services had to rescue 200 people from their cars, after the A38 near Exeter became impassable.
The main roads between England and South Wales are closed and parts of the country are in 'complete white out'.
And the AA has warned grit shortages have created a "road safety crisis".
