Severn's sustainable energy project
Updated on 14 April 2007
MPs are being urged to reconsider a plan to build a barrage across the River Severn that's been a dream for 30 years.
It's a sustainable energy project that could cost more than the Olympic Games.
Using the power of water it could provide 5 per cent of the UK's energy needs - the equivalent of three nuclear power stations.
The government is being urged to include the £15bn project in its forthcoming energy white paper - but many environmentalists say it could ruin a recognised bird sanctuary.
