Police clash with climate camp protesters at Kingsnorth power site

By Tom Clarke

Updated on 04 August 2008

Police prompt claims of heavy-handedness as they clash with Kingsnorth climate camp protesters.

Police made 10 arrests amid accusations of heavy-handedness.

Protesters have set up camp near Kingsnorth in Kent, where Britain's first coal-fired power station in 30 years is likely to be built.

They say it will pump out carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to those of more than 20 countries every year.

The government says it will stop the lights from going out.
