Launch of energy saving video diaries

Updated on 28 January 2008

By Krishnan Guru-Murthy

Here's the first instalment of a video diary on how an ordinary family is trying to become greener.

The video diary is by the Brawtons of Chiswick in West London who are taking part in British Gas's 'green streets' initiative to encourage its customers to spruce up their homes.

64 houses on eight streets, all called some variation of Green Street, are taking part - the Brawtons are just one of these families.

A team of experts installs all the latest energy saving technology in their houses.

The street which saves the most energy gets £50,000 to spend on energy saving equipment for a local community project.

Britain has a target to increase the efficiency of its energy use by 2020. Some of that must come from greater energy efficiency in the home.
