The National Audit Office casts doubt on the way the government measures greenhouse gas emissions.

There are questions about whether the government is really as green as it claims.

The National Audit Office, which oversees the spending of public money, has examined the systems which measure greenhouse gas emissions and concluded that they are "complicated and highly uncertain".

Opposition parties say it means government green figures are "up the creek", with potentially disastrous consequences.
