The cost of damage caused by the flooding across England will be £1.5bn, according to insurers.

More than 27,000 homes are thought to have been damaged - turning thousands of people into 'environmental refugees'.

The prime minister said the Government would do all it can to help - promising what he called a comprehensive recovery programme.

The archbishop of Canterbury was in Hull today but businesses are also struggling to cope with the cost of the flood.
