America, the world's biggest polluter, hosts a climate change conference - but is it all just hot air?
It's the world's biggest greenhouse gas polluter... and the United States wants to combat climate change by letting countries set their own targets to cut harmful emissions.
Is it green enough?
Launching a conference of the world's major carbon-emitting and developing countries in Washington, the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said it was aimed at supporting the UN's efforts on global warming.
But critics - including protesters outside the meeting - are questioning the extent of America's green intentions.
While a recent climate report warned that emissions must be cut even further, politicians don't seem to be ready to spread that message.
