Are good biofuels turning bad?

Green groups say there's evidence biofuels are leading to higher food prices, a cut in food for the poor and they don't save much carbon.

From midnight tonight, all petrol and diesel sold on UK forecourts must contain 2.5 per cent renewable biofuels.

But as these new rules are introduced, the debate about supposedly sustainable crops intensifies.

The government is committed to increasing their use as a means to reduce transport carbon emissions. But are biofuels taking us down the wrong track?
