Did Obama attend a madrassa?

Updated on 21 April 2008

By Channel 4 News

Barack Obama's detractors are claiming the school he attended in Indonesia was an extremist madrassa.

It is all about white voters in Pennsylvania, where Hillary Clinton faces Democratic rival Barack Obama tomorrow in the contest that could decide their White House hopes once and for all.

But for Barack Obama it is not just overcoming racial stereotypes. His detractors have made much of his middle name - Hussein - and the fact that his surname sounds a bit like Osama.

Channel 4 News went to the school and found that nothing could be further from the truth.
