Concerns over school lottery

As England's 11-year-olds find out which secondary school they will attend, Ed Balls orders a review of the lottery system's fairness.

It's a nervous time for 11-year-olds in England as they start to find out today if they've got into the secondary school they want. Last year, almost one in five failed to gain a place at their first choice school.

The results come as the Schools Secretary Ed Balls has ordered a review of whether the use of lotteries to determine which child goes to which school is fair.
