Call for EU migration policy

Speaking to Channel 4 News, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso stresses the need for a common migration policy.
The president of the European Commission has told Channel 4 News there is a pressing need for a common migration policy for Europe.
Jose Manuel Barroso was speaking during a visit to Malta, which has been inundated with illegal immigrants.
Overnight a Channel 4 News team filmed another group of 43 refugees from Africa arriving in Malta after being rescued at sea by Maltese armed forces. One person died on the crossing.
This month alone, 400 refugees have landed on the island.
Our foreign affairs correspondent, Jonathan Miller, caught up with Mr Barroso in Malta to ask about what was going on.
