Bill considers abortion curbs
Updated on 20 May 2008
The Commons debate on the embryo bill today moves on to discuss two key areas for women's rights campaigners.
Women's rights campaigners are joining gay groups in pressing for the removal of the requirement for fertility clinics to consider the need for any child born from such treatment to have a father.
And they will be opposing a cut in the time limit for abortions.
Conservative leader David Cameron has announced he will support moves to cut the 24-week time limit to 22 weeks. Other MPs think it should fall further, to 20 weeks.
