Unveiled: the world's oldest missing link

The oldest fossil belonging to the human family is finally unveiled 15 years after the skeleton, nicknamed Ardi, was discovered.

Writing in the journal Science today, American and Ethiopian researchers have unveiled 15 years of work on the fossil.

Dating from nearer to the time when our ancestors split from chimpanzees than any fossil skeleton found before, what has surprised experts is just how little she resembles an ape.
