From the birth of the internet boom in 1998, to its rebirth today. Benjamin Cohen gives us a guided tour through the dot.com decade.

For anybody there from the word go, it's been an amazing journey from bulky computers through the euphoria of the dot.com boom, followed by bust and eventual rebirth.

Benjamin Cohen and More4 News give us the internet history lesson of how the web got where it is today.

The birth of the dot.com decade

Now, can you remember life without the distractions of email, e-commerce and whiling away hours at work surfing the web?

Incredibly, it's only ten years since the internet truly entered our lives. 1998 saw the dot.com boom hit Britain and witnessed the birth of sites like Google and so many internet technologies that are now so firmly embedded in everything we do.

In the first of our reports to mark ten years of the dotcom era our technology correspondent Benjamin Cohen who was there with the original British 'dot.commers', looks back at the birth of our dot.com decade.
